第二章 加法思维
导论里我们介绍过加法思维，就是化零为整，将两点变成一线的思维过程。我们经常在课上跟学生说，GMAT考来考去，无非就是各种逻辑：
句改考了一个小逻辑，就是句子里面不同成分之间的描述逻辑；
逻辑考了一个中逻辑，就是论点和证据之间的论证逻辑；
阅读考了一个大逻辑，就是多个论证关系之间的转折逻辑。
当我们通过减法的取舍将文章的关键信息捕捉到手，下一步需要做的就是将这些关键信息所在的逻辑关系梳理出来，“将两点变成一线”。就像减法思维里面我们介绍了四个“不知道”，加法思维由五个“要知道”组成的：

第一节 局部句意
“描述的是谁要知道”
在SC题目中，划线部分产生的问题，可以归咎为两种情况：一种是错误的语法表达，一种是含混的句意描述。前者也就是语法错误比较容易识别，GMAT里涉及的语法问题很基础，无非是句子结构不完整，单复数不一致，动词的主被动那么几样。而后者就要求考生细致的考察句意了，比如这个题目：

当我们无法一眼看出原句的毛病是，可以从选项的区别入手。这里A选项的主语相比于另外四个不同，中心词落在了conception上，其它四个是Marconi本人。这时我们需要考察的局部句意关系，可以从主谓入手。主语和谓语的一致，属于动作发起者和动作之间的局部句意关系。
因为A选项的谓语项是was a substitute for thetelephone(*GMAT中我们姑且把主系表看作主谓宾的一种。——可达注)，这显然不能用来描述conception。所以干掉。
然后我们在BD两个选项中看到了GMAT句改中的问题多发词：which，根据which“就近描述先行名词”的特质，我们看到了telephone，但是which里面表达的是 precisely theopposite, a tool for communicating with a large, public audience(正好相反，一种用来跟大众交流的工具)，与telephone完全不符合。因而又一次根据局部句意的匹配原则排除了B和D。
E选项的what用法问题很大，因为what等于the one/ones加that跟随一个定语从句，但是原文从it is到结尾是一个完整句，无法构成定语从句，所以排除。答案选择C。
